Low-Level Senior Software Engineer, Xet Storage
Build and operate low-level, high-performance storage infrastructure at massive scale, contributing to the Rust-based xet-core project and Xet Storage backend. The role requires 8+ years of distributed systems, storage, or networking experience and strong independent execution.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to xet-core, an open-source Rust project powering
hf-xet, the Python library underpinning the Hugging Face Hub client and related open-source tools. - Design, build, and operate features in the Xet Storage backend.
- Build and operate production systems software at large scale.
- Develop simple, robust, and scalable systems used by engineering and science teams.
- Work independently and take ownership of projects end to end in a high-trust, low-process environment.
- Monitor, alert, debug, and recover distributed production systems.
Requirements
- 8+ years building and scaling distributed systems, storage, or networking infrastructure.
- Proficiency in a low-level systems language; Rust is strongly preferred.
- Experience working independently in ambiguous, fast-moving, asynchronous, and fully remote environments.
- Passion for building high-performance, robust, and scalable systems.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience designing efficient, high-performance, fault-tolerant data storage and retrieval systems.
- Experience operating production systems, including monitoring, alerting, distributed debugging, and recovery.
- Familiarity with Git internals.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, databases, or networking.
