Senior Software Engineer - Distributed Systems

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate foundational distributed systems platforms in production.
• Build fault-tolerant, horizontally scalable solutions for multi-tenant environments.
• Develop real-time data pipelines that ingest, store, analyze, and query billions of events per second.
• Write production software in Go, Java, Rust, C++, and other languages.
• Use open-source components such as Kafka, Redis, Cassandra, and Elasticsearch.
• Own meaningful parts of services and contribute to their performance, durability, availability, latency, and operability.
• Leverage AI coding tools in daily workflows and validate, critique, and refine AI-generated output.

Requirements

• BS, MS, PhD in a scientific field, or equivalent experience.
• Significant backend programming experience in one or more of Go, Java, Rust, or C++.
• Experience addressing high-durability and low-latency systems problems.
• Ability to work at the low level when needed.
• Strong focus on simple designs and performance.
• Demonstrated ability to use and evaluate AI coding tools in day-to-day software development.
