Staff Software Engineer - Databases
Leads the architecture and development of a global schema and data migration platform supporting thousands of databases. The role requires 12+ years of backend or platform engineering experience, strong database expertise, and experience with reliable, high-throughput infrastructure.

Responsibilities
- Architect and maintain automated schema change infrastructure for MySQL and TiDB, including versioning, rollback, validation, and auditing.
- Operate schema and data migration platforms across thousands of global databases with high reliability and zero downtime.
- Improve resilience, observability, and recovery capabilities.
- Build a test harness for migration and deployment validation.
- Design developer-friendly tools and APIs for schema and data change management.
- Integrate migration workflows into CI/CD pipelines.
- Design safe, large-scale backfills and data purging operations.
- Ensure backfills are monitored, retryable, minimally disruptive, and automated.
- Maintain data integrity as schemas and data evolve.
Requirements
- 12+ years of professional experience in backend systems or platform engineering.
- Experience building platforms, infrastructure, or database engineering systems.
- Experience with MySQL and TiDB.
- Track record of building and scaling mission-critical, high-throughput platforms for global services.
- Experience with schema migration frameworks, CI/CD automation, and developer tooling.
- Strong focus on developer experience and reliable, user-friendly workflows.
