Senior Software Engineer
Builds and evolves reliable backend systems for global tax remittances across thousands of agencies. The role requires 7+ years of programming experience, distributed-systems expertise, and strong architectural judgment in complex financial domains.
About the job
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve the core tax remittance product supporting payments across 40+ countries and 5,000+ tax agencies.
- Develop and optimize distributed systems for high-throughput, multi-currency tax remittances, agency cutoffs, retries, reconciliation, and failure recovery.
- Establish reliability, observability, security, and regulatory/audit readiness for a mission-critical system.
- Partner with Payroll, Banking, Finance Ops, Compliance, external payment partners, and tax agencies on roadmaps, launches, geographies, and products.
- Participate in planning, code reviews, and team development.
- Mentor junior and intermediate engineers and help remove blockers to their autonomy.
Requirements
- 7+ years of programming experience.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in performing job duties.
- Experience architecting backend applications with complex business logic.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments by identifying areas of impact and pursuing them independently.
- Passion for solving customer problems.
- Experience building scalable distributed systems.
