Staff Backend Engineer - Alerting

Build and operate reliable, high-scale alerting and distributed backend systems for Grafana’s open-source and cloud products. The role requires strong programming experience, cloud or systems engineering background, end-to-end project ownership, and effective remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

Influence the roadmap and career objectives.
Deliver new features, then use results to iterate and improve.
Drive projects from initial ideation through operations after customer release.
Contribute to open-source projects beyond the team’s direct scope.
Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems, owning reliability, performance, and availability.
Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of operated services.
Mentor and support team members, participate in design discussions, and collaborate with the team.
Develop expertise in the cloud product, customers, and large distributed-system codebase.

Requirements

Strong collaboration and communication skills for a fully remote environment.
Solid experience with at least one programming language.
Experience delivering projects from requirements gathering and ideation through customer release.
Experience developing cloud software or working in systems engineering.
Experience writing clean, robust, performant, and maintainable software.

Compensation & Benefits

Germany compensation range: EUR 109,709–EUR 131,651.
