Responsibilities

Own the technical strategy and architecture for Vanta’s government product line, adapting the core compliance platform for federal agencies, government vendors, and SLED organizations.
Design and build net-new product capabilities, including core compliance workflow features, alongside early design partners.
Define reusable abstractions and platform patterns for scalability and long-term maintainability.
Partner with adjacent engineering teams on shared infrastructure and tagging systems supporting government-specific compliance workflows.
Drive multi-quarter technical initiatives across engineering, product, and go-to-market.
Translate ambiguous early-stage requirements into durable, scalable solutions.
Mentor mid-level and senior engineers through code review, practice-setting, and technical decision-making.

Requirements

10+ years of deep backend engineering experience.
Track record of leading complex, multi-quarter technical initiatives in fast-paced, product-focused environments.
Strong systems thinking and platform architecture skills, including designing for reuse, scalability, and maintainability.
Experience in highly regulated industries such as fintech or healthcare; FedRAMP or government experience is a plus.
Comfort operating in early-stage, 0-to-1 environments with evolving requirements.
Strong product mindset and ability to balance technical rigor with delivery velocity.
Exceptional communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proven ability to mentor and develop engineers and raise team-wide technical quality.
Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
Curiosity and sound judgment when applying AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $260,000–$306,000 plus equity.
