Senior Engineer, Search

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end architecture and roadmap of the search platform, including distributed indexing pipelines, storage infrastructure, and high-performance web servers.
• Improve search-result relevance through signal engineering and better data models.
• Maintain performance and reliability as data volume and query traffic grow while unblocking business requirements and managing risk.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other teams to drive initiatives.
• Uphold operational excellence, bias for action, and user empathy.
• Build functional prototypes for internal and external use cases.
• Scale engineers' technical abilities through code reviews and mentorship.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building applications in high-level programming languages.
• Strong backend expertise in search and ETL systems.
• Experience with customer-facing search solutions and hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, Apache Solr, or OpenSearch.
• Experience orchestrating batch and streaming pipelines using Apache Kafka, Amazon Kinesis, or AWS Lambda.
• Knowledge of compute or data-processing engines such as Apache Spark, Apache Flink, or Ray.
• Strength in artificial intelligence, natural language processing, ranking systems, or recommendation systems.
• Strong computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, networking, and operating systems.
• Familiarity with programming tools, frameworks, and development practices.
• Ability to write testable, maintainable code using SOLID principles.
• Excellent communication skills for articulating technical concepts to product managers, designers, support teams, and engineers.
