Staff Software Engineer
This staff-level backend engineer will define the Shared Services platformization roadmap, architect reusable distributed systems, and lead execution across platform projects. The role requires deep systems architecture experience, strong debugging and communication skills, and expertise with Python and Google Cloud.

Responsibilities
- Define a 1–3 year roadmap and vision for Shared Services.
- Write clear, complete architectural design documents.
- Estimate technical resources and requirements needed to plan and begin projects.
- Own execution of Shared Services platformization projects and drive delivery milestones.
- Develop well-tested features with appropriate test hooks to reduce defects and improve engineering throughput.
- Serve as the technical expert for a product area and devise elegant solutions to difficult engineering problems.
- Review technical designs to ensure features and products are well integrated and meet business needs.
- Give large-scale internal demos of completed features and explain their broader context.
- Contribute to projects intended to delight users.
Requirements
- Experienced, backend-focused software engineer who drives software delivery and operational excellence.
- Deep experience architecting complex systems across multiple roles.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong experience with distributed systems.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with highly agile, iterative development processes.
- Experience mentoring engineers and helping them develop their skills.

Compensation and Benefits
- Ontario base salary range: $194,500–$226,750 CAD.
