Staff Software Engineer - Backend
Build large-scale backend infrastructure and data products for Databricks across areas such as log analytics, AI/BI, business semantics, and apps. The role requires staff-level software engineering experience, including 10+ years with Java, Scala, or C++ and expertise in distributed systems and cloud technologies.

Responsibilities
- Build and operate data and AI infrastructure products at Databricks.
- Develop systems for large-scale log analytics, including ingestion, indexing, processing, and user experiences.
- Contribute to AI/BI products, including dashboarding, visualizations, and talk-to-your-data solutions.
- Build governed business semantics and data-modeling capabilities for enterprise AI.
- Develop Databricks Apps platform components, including the apps runtime, proxy, networking, and app-builder AI agents.
- Work toward a multi-year technical vision through incremental deliverables.
- Deliver customer value and measurable product impact.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of production-level experience with Java, Scala, or C++.
- Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures and their real-world applications.
- Experience developing large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience with SaaS platforms or service-oriented architectures.
- Experience with cloud technologies.
- Experience with security and systems that handle sensitive data.
- Good knowledge of SQL.
Compensation and Benefits
- Canada pay range: $173,400–$238,350 CAD.
- Compensation may include an annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.
