PoshPosh

Head of People & Culture

Head of People & Culture at Posh, owning full employee experience, culture strategy, performance management, and people operations for a high-growth tech company. Requires 8+ years progressive HR leadership in scaling tech firms, deep operational HR expertise, and NY employment law knowledge.

About the job

Culture & Organization

  • Own company culture as a system: design and run rituals, programs, recognition, and internal communications that make Posh's Guiding Principles come to life.
  • Build a culture of psychological safety alongside a high performance bar — where feedback is direct and constructive, people feel safe to surface problems early, and hard decisions are communicated with clarity and humanity.
  • Own team sentiment end-to-end: engagement surveys, leadership reviews, and pulse checks — and turn insights into visible action.
  • Design and implement a best-in-class performance management system, including clear expectations, career ladders, structured review cycles, and a fair performance improvement process.
  • Coach managers and senior leaders on feedback delivery, communication, and team health; act as a trusted advisor to employees at every level.
  • Own onboarding and offboarding as cultural moments.
  • Collaborate with the Culture Lead on team-building programming, off-sites, and internal events.

People Operations & Compliance

  • Own day-to-day people operations: payroll, benefits administration, HRIS, PTO, leaves of absence, and workers' compensation.
  • Collaborate with counsel to draft, manage, and maintain employment agreements, offer letters, severance agreements, and company policies.
  • Ensure full compliance with NY State, NYC, federal, and multi-state employment law.
  • Collaborate on compensation strategy: leveling, benchmarking, equity education, and competitive benefits.
  • Handle sensitive employee relations matters with empathy, confidentiality, sound judgment, and rigorous documentation.
  • Collaborate with leadership on headcount planning and org design.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of progressive People/HR experience at high-growth technology companies, including experience as the senior-most people leader (or #2) at a company scaling from ~50 to 200+ employees.
  • Dual-threat: strong opinions on culture AND personally owned operational HR (payroll, benefits, employment and severance agreements, compliance, employee relations).
  • Deep working knowledge of New York State and NYC employment law and experience partnering with employment counsel.
  • Strong viewpoint on high-performing company culture (modeled after Airbnb, Netflix, DoorDash, Uber, Coinbase, Toast, Square, Ramp).
  • Experience designing and implementing performance management frameworks, career ladders, and performance improvement processes.
  • Reputation as a trusted team resource with impeccable confidentiality and judgment.
  • Ability to drive decision-making at all levels and respectfully challenge leadership.
  • Intense interest in organizational psychology and track record turning low-morale into high-trust, high-performance.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, strategic and analytical thinker with strong communication skills; lead with data while delivering with soul.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Passion for the mission of building real-world human connection and IRL communities.
