Senior Software Engineer, Konnect Control Plane
Build and operate highly available, low-latency microservices and APIs for Kong Konnect’s cloud-hosted control plane. The role requires 3+ years of distributed software experience, strong Go and database skills, and experience with Kubernetes, observability, and production SaaS reliability.

Responsibilities
- Architect and scale microservices powering Kong Konnect's cloud-hosted control plane for global customer configurations.
- Design, implement, and maintain highly performant, low-latency APIs and services.
- Solve technical problems of moderate complexity while preventing technical debt.
- Write robust, automated tests to prevent regressions and ensure product stability.
- Own service reliability and uptime in production through an active on-call rotation.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Solutions Architects, and cross-functional engineering teams.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience developing, delivering, and maintaining complex, distributed software solutions in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Go (Golang) and relational database data modeling.
- Experience building, debugging, and maintaining microservices architectures at scale.
- Experience with DevOps monitoring, observability, and supporting large-scale SaaS platforms running on Kubernetes and containerized environments.
- Working knowledge of L4/L7 proxies such as Nginx, HAProxy, or Envoy.
- Understanding of API lifecycle management, API design standards, and testing frameworks, including test-driven development and automated testing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Deep experience with Go standards and writing idiomatic, highly optimized Go.
- Direct experience with Nginx, OpenResty, LuaJIT, or the Kong gateway core.
- Experience with cloud-native observability stacks, particularly Datadog or OpenTelemetry.
- Contributions to open-source software projects.
