Head of Talent
Build and lead Phylo’s recruiting function while personally sourcing and closing business, scientific, and engineering talent. The role requires five-plus years of high-bar recruiting experience, early-stage process-building ability, strong judgment, and effective use of AI and automation.

Responsibilities
- Lead full-cycle recruiting across business, scientific, and engineering roles, from defining talent profiles and building pipelines through interviews, offers, and closing.
- Develop creative sourcing strategies for senior and specialized roles, building trusted relationships across technology companies, research labs, biotech organizations, and academic institutions.
- Establish role calibration, structured interview loops, clear rubrics, interviewer training, and reliable recruiting reporting.
- Own the ATS as the source of truth and improve hiring speed, quality, and candidate experience.
- Help hiring teams recognize capability beyond pedigree, maintain consistent standards, and communicate the company’s mission credibly to candidates from varied backgrounds.
- Build the employer brand and use AI, automation, and modern recruiting tools to increase reach, speed, and effectiveness.
- Determine when additional recruiters, agencies, tools, or programs are needed as the company grows.
Requirements
- At least five years of recruiting experience.
- Track record of personally sourcing and closing exceptional business, scientific, and engineering talent in a high-bar, fast-moving environment.
- Experience creating recruiting processes, interview systems, tooling, or employer-brand programs from an early stage.
- Strong judgment and partnership skills, including the ability to learn unfamiliar domains quickly and calibrate hiring managers.
- High ownership, clear communication, and an AI-native approach.
Compensation and Benefits
- $200,000–$250,000 salary.
