Staff Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of scalable, resilient frameworks that empower customer-facing APIs.
• Influence architecture and design decisions across multiple teams; serve as a technical advisor and escalation point for complex challenges.
• Align engineering initiatives with business goals and organizational priorities.
• Champion software engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, observability, and maintainability.
• Improve developer productivity through tooling, documentation, and onboarding experiences; act as a developer evangelist for platform capabilities.
• Mentor senior engineers and raise the technical bar through reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.
• Use generative AI and AI coding tools to improve developer productivity, engineering workflows, and automation.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a staff-level role.
• Strong proficiency in Java or Golang.
• Experience building platforms, frameworks, libraries, or SDKs at scale.
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, CI/CD, and observability.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and caching strategies.
• Ability to lead technical initiatives and influence without direct authority.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
• Understanding of AI-native software development practices, including automated code generation, AI-driven testing, and human-in-the-loop review systems.
• Ability to integrate AI into development workflows to improve productivity, quality, and delivery speed.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Leadership experience, including mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Python and Django.
• Experience building scalable APIs, preferably external- or partner-facing APIs.
• Experience as a technical evangelist through talks, documentation, or internal advocacy.
• Familiarity with API gateways, authentication and authorization patterns, and rate limiting.
