Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience as a backend or full-stack engineer
- Backend engineering experience with willingness to take on frontend tasks, or full-stack development with a backend bias
- Experience writing backend systems in a compiled language such as Java, C#, or Go
- Experience designing and architecting modern, scalable web applications
- Experience troubleshooting difficult problems in distributed environments and at the database diagnostic or operational level
- Familiarity with debugging and troubleshooting production issues
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and time and space complexity
- Collaborative, approachable, curious, and intellectually honest mindset
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with new technologies
Nice to Haves
- Experience with distributed event-streaming platforms such as Kafka or WarpStream
- Experience with event-processing platforms such as Flink
- Experience developing code observability tools
- Experience with TypeScript, React, and Node.js, particularly maintaining dependency ecosystems
- Knowledge of database internals and tuning mechanisms, particularly indexing
Responsibilities
- Design, write, and maintain observability code and features
- Contribute to and lead complex technical projects
- Investigate large-scale distributed production issues
- Collaborate on codebase development, best practices, and design principles
- Work with customers and support engineers to resolve issues
- Participate in the on-call rotation
