Senior Software Engineer - Accounting Integrations
Build and operate scalable, bi-directional ERP and financial-system integrations supporting accounting workflows such as journal syncing and reconciliation. Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, bi-directional integrations between Rippling and ERP systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, Dynamics 365, and Oracle.
- Ship medium-to-large features end-to-end, including requirements gathering, architecture, coding, testing, deployment, and iteration.
- Collaborate with Product, UX, internal platform teams, and external partners to develop robust technical solutions.
- Define and enforce best practices for code quality, unit and integration testing, observability, and performance.
- Provide production support and incident response by debugging integration failures, resolving customer issues, and implementing root-cause fixes.
- Improve integration frameworks and abstractions for consistency, extensibility, and maintainability across ERP platforms.
- Lead roadmap initiatives, propose architectural enhancements, and influence the expansion of global accounting capabilities.
- Mentor junior engineers and conduct design and code reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping backend or full-stack systems end-to-end.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and reliability at scale.
- Proficiency in one or more backend languages: Python, Go, Java, or Node.js.
- Hands-on experience with RESTful or gRPC APIs.
- Deep experience building integrations or middleware, preferably for ERP or financial systems.
- Database experience with relational and NoSQL stores, including schema design and efficient queries.
- Production troubleshooting and support experience, including logs, metrics, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
- Strong product mindset, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to learn unfamiliar frameworks and codebases and take on occasional front-end, tooling, or support work.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with NetSuite SuiteTalk, QuickBooks API, Dynamics OData, or Oracle integrations.
- Experience with accounting workflows such as journal entries, reconciliations, and book closure.
