Engineering Leadership & Team Building

  • Oversee hiring process, including forecast, budget, hiring engineers, promoting and growing team members.
  • Organize teams for impactful changes, mentor leads, empower them to mentor direct reports.
  • Drive people management: delegate technical ownership, establish leaders, provide feedback, advocate for career growth, conduct bi-weekly 1-on-1s, resolve conflicts.
  • Constantly improve team productivity, quality, and health.

Feature Development & Architecture

  • Build and launch enterprise-grade SaaS/PaaS distributed applications in multi-tenant public and private clouds.
  • Evaluate features against product strategy and roadmap considering ROI.
  • Review designs for critical components and conduct cross-team UI/UX design reviews.
  • Dedicate a percentage of time to hands-on coding and code reviews (autonomy to decide).
  • Maintain vision of risk vs reward for production changes, emphasize quality, ensure strict quality checks.

Development Process

  • Practice and establish agile scrum processes across teams.
  • Drive Agile delivery including Scrum, retrospectives, sprint planning, backlog refinement.
  • Improve release process and ensure awareness of release milestones.

AI Leadership & Engineering Productivity

  • Champion adoption of AI throughout the SDLC to enhance excellence, accelerate delivery, improve quality.
  • Design, build, and deploy AI agents that automate workflows, increase developer productivity, support high-quality delivery.
  • Advocate for AI-leveraged development with responsible innovation, maintaining security and best practices.

Production Support & SRE

  • Identify root causes, drive SRE process improvements, ensure strict adherence.
  • Monitor Production/SRE continuously, pull in resources proactively.
  • Manage support escalations, communicate with support manager, participate in customer escalation calls.

Communication & Customer Focus

  • Gather customer feedback directly to innovate and improve experience.
  • Collaborate with field teams to set and meet expectations, support renewals.
  • Work with engineering leads and managers, document processes, distribute updates to team.

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience developing enterprise SaaS products
  • 7+ years Java experience
  • 5+ years leading and managing off and on-shore engineering teams
  • Passion for consumable APIs and highly available distributed systems
  • Passion for building highly resilient, distributed and scalable capabilities for complex enterprise needs
  • Passion for using generative AI in all aspects of the product
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems including HTTP protocols, distributed caching strategies, and observability
  • Hands-on experience with REST/JSON architectures
  • Deep understanding of SOAP/XML/JMS
  • BS/MS in Computer Science
