Responsibilities
- Build the highly available, reliable, secure, scalable, and multi-tenant compute layer for Kora, Confluent’s managed cloud-native event streaming service.
- Drive technical solutions end to end, including design, architecture, development, and production delivery.
- Solve complex distributed-systems and infrastructure problems with a focus on quality and customer impact.
- Identify root causes and develop durable solutions rather than treating symptoms.
- Collaborate effectively with teammates and stakeholders, making decisions that benefit the team and company.
- Build and operate large-scale cloud systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 4+ years of relevant cloud infrastructure or cloud networking experience.
- Strong fundamentals in distributed-systems design and development.
- Experience building and operating large-scale systems in the cloud.
- Understanding of systems operations, including disks, networks, and operating systems.
- Proficiency in Java, Scala, C, C++, Go, or another statically typed language.
- Self-starter who works effectively in teams.
Nice-to-haves
- In-depth familiarity with the JVM.
- Background in distributed storage systems or databases.
- Experience with resource management and quality of service.
- Experience with or knowledge of public clouds, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with databases or data storage.
- Interest in technical evangelism, such as conference talks or technical blog posts about Kafka.
