Manager, Legal Operations

Leads legal operations strategy, technology, spend management, budgeting, contract lifecycle management, and cross-functional programs. Requires 6+ years of relevant operations experience, hands-on Brightflag and Ironclad expertise, budgeting and forecasting experience, and strong project leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the legal operations function, including its strategy, roadmap, OKR planning, reporting, and leadership meeting processes.
  • Coordinate department-wide initiatives and provide visibility into priorities, resources, dependencies, and execution risks.
  • Develop and manage the legal technology stack, including evaluating, implementing, configuring, and optimizing tools.
  • Improve legal intake and ticket-routing processes using systems such as Streamline and Zendesk.
  • Manage outside counsel and vendor relationships, engagements, billing accuracy, and legal spend.
  • Own the Brightflag e-billing process and provide real-time legal spend visibility.
  • Build and maintain the legal budget and forecast in partnership with Finance.
  • Own Ironclad contract lifecycle management, including templates, workflows, integrations, configuration, and business-partner training.
  • Lead process improvement and cross-functional legal and compliance programs.
  • Build and maintain knowledge management systems, templates, playbooks, and operational metrics.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of combined experience in in-house legal operations, law firm operations, or a related operations, business, or chief-of-staff role.
  • Direct experience managing people and technology-driven optimizations.
  • Hands-on experience with e-billing platforms such as Brightflag and contract lifecycle management systems such as Ironclad.
  • Experience building and managing budgets and forecasts with Finance.
  • Strong project management experience leading process improvements across multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, shifting priorities, and multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Strong communication, ownership, coordination, and stakeholder-management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • In-house legal operations experience in healthcare, digital health, or another highly regulated technology company.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing a legal technology stack.
  • Familiarity with AI tools and agents such as GC AI, Claude, and Glean.
  • Experience building or managing legal-team knowledge management systems, playbooks, or templates.
  • MBA, JD, or another advanced degree.
