About the role
Responsibilities
Lead negotiation and drafting of agreements with data providers, credit bureaus, government and public-record sources, and alternative-data vendors to test, evaluate, acquire, and license data.
Negotiate agreements with third-party providers whose products or services are integrated into RiskOS, including integration, reseller, and technology-partner terms.
Structure deal terms covering permitted use, field-level and downstream usage rights, data quality and accuracy warranties, refresh obligations, service levels, and audit rights.
Collaborate with Product Counsel and Privacy teams on FCRA, GLBA, CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, and other domestic and international regulatory requirements governing consumer and identity data.
Translate business and technical data and integration requirements into enforceable contract terms, and advise on data provenance, consent, and permissible-purpose issues.
Assess and allocate risk related to data ownership, intellectual property in derived or enriched data and models, liability, and termination or data-return obligations.
Develop AI-supported tracking mechanisms for usage rights, restrictions, and contractual limitations attached to each data source.
Develop agentic AI workflows to accelerate review, negotiation, and processing of data acquisition and RiskOS-related contracts.
Support procurement and sales-facing legal teams on customer negotiations, data rights, integration terms, and related risks.
Develop and maintain contract playbooks, templates, negotiation guidelines, and standardized processes.
Manage external counsel on complex data-sourcing or integration matters and support due diligence on data rights in M&A and strategic partnerships.
Monitor evolving data privacy and AI/data-use regulations and update contract forms and internal policies.
Train and advise Sales, Product, and Data Acquisition teams on data rights and permissible-use limitations.
Support cross-border data sourcing and transfer issues.
Mentor junior legal team members and foster cross-functional collaboration.
Requirements
JD from an accredited law school.
Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state.
At least 7 years of post-JD legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
Substantial experience negotiating data licensing, data acquisition, or data-sharing agreements.
Deep familiarity with FCRA, GLBA, and state privacy laws.
Demonstrated success negotiating complex commercial data transactions involving data rights, intellectual property, liability allocation, and sensitive or regulated data.
Strong commercial judgment and ability to move quickly on high-volume data deals while escalating material legal or regulatory risk.
Ability to translate complex contract terms into clear, actionable guidance for Product and executive leadership.
Collaborative approach and ability to support sales-facing legal colleagues as needed.

Experience with credit bureau, alternative-data, or data broker relationships.
Experience negotiating technology integration, reseller, or platform-partner agreements.
Experience with SaaS platforms that embed or resell third-party data or services.
Lead commercial contract negotiations for B2B SaaS customers and IP-heavy partnerships in generative AI. Implement scalable legal processes, advise cross-functional teams on technical products, and track AI policy developments. Requires 6+ years in fast-paced SaaS legal environments.
