Sr. Counsel, Privacy Compliance Program Lead

Senior privacy counsel will lead and mature a global privacy compliance program, advise on evolving privacy and AI regulations, assess risk, negotiate data-protection terms, and build governance processes. The role requires 7+ years of legal experience, substantial privacy-program leadership, a J.D., and bar membership.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on compliance with global privacy and data protection laws, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, ADMT, and U.S. state privacy laws.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments and translate them into actionable business guidance.
  • Build and mature the privacy program, including AI governance.
  • Develop program components for data subject rights requests, privacy notices, consent management, PIA/DPIAs, and policy management.
  • Conduct gap analyses, privacy and transfer impact assessments, and support records of processing activities (RoPA).
  • Draft and update agreements and negotiate data protection provisions in commercial contracts, including DPAs and SCCs.
  • Develop and maintain internal privacy policies, external privacy notices, and standards.
  • Design and deliver privacy training and awareness programs.
  • Operationalize privacy and AI governance frameworks and cross-functional privacy committees.
  • Collaborate with commercial, go-to-market, compliance, corporate, and public affairs legal teams.
  • Provide general legal support across the business and contribute to the legal department.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant legal experience at a top law firm and/or in-house, including 5+ years focused on privacy.
  • Demonstrated experience building, operating, or leading a privacy compliance program.
  • Deep, current knowledge of GDPR/UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, EU AI Act, U.S. state privacy and AI laws, and cross-border data transfer mechanisms.
  • Working knowledge of DPIAs/PIAs, RoPA and data mapping, data subject rights processes, privacy by design, and vendor risk management.
  • Technical proficiency using AI tools to build skills, agents, and automated tasks.
  • Understanding of cloud and software technology.
  • J.D. from a top-tier law school.
  • State bar membership in good standing.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with platform services for business customers.
  • Familiarity with privacy management tools such as OneTrust.
  • Privacy certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, CIPT, or FIP; CIPM is particularly valued.

Compensation

  • Zone 2 pay range: $219,800–$302,300 USD.
  • Zone 3 pay range: $207,600–$285,450 USD.
  • Compensation may include an annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.
