Account Director, Startups
Own strategic relationships and revenue growth for startup customers building on OpenAI’s platform. The role requires 6+ years of SaaS or PaaS sales experience, complex deal strategy, executive engagement, startup ecosystem knowledge, and strong technical communication.

Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of startup accounts, developing and executing comprehensive account plans.
- Partner with solutions and research engineering to build and execute complex customer programs and projects.
- Own a consumption revenue target and manage consumption revenue forecasts.
- Analyze key account metrics to create reports and provide insights to internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor the industry and startup landscapes, including people, competitors, and partners, to contribute to product roadmaps and corporate strategies.
- Collaborate with solutions, marketing, communications, business operations, people operations, finance, product management, and engineering.
- Advocate for improvements to the startup experience and synthesize product feedback from work with startups.
- Support recruitment and onboarding of teammates.
- Support company culture development.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience selling platform-as-a-service and/or software-as-a-service.
- Experience designing and executing complex deal strategies.
- Experience working in or around the startup ecosystem, preferably as a startup founder, startup employee, or someone who has worked with startup customers.
- Experience supporting the growth of fast-growing, high-performance companies.
- Experience working directly with C-level executives.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Experience leading high-visibility customer events, such as customer advisory boards, conferences, and product launches.
- Ability to gather, distill, and process complex market intelligence across industries, competitors, customers, and prospects.
- Customer-centric approach and ability to build trusted-advisor relationships with executives and cross-functional professionals.
- Passion for or deep curiosity about artificial intelligence.
- Strategic understanding of go-to-market best practices.
