Staff Software Engineer
Staff backend engineer responsible for the shared-services platformization roadmap, architecture, and execution. The role requires deep distributed-systems experience, strong debugging and communication skills, and the ability to mentor engineers while improving developer productivity, security, and scalability.

Responsibilities
- Define a 1–3 year roadmap and vision for Shared Services.
- Write clear, complete architectural design documents.
- Estimate technical resources and requirements for project planning.
- Own execution of Shared Services platformization projects and drive delivery milestones.
- Develop well-tested features with appropriate test hooks to reduce defects and improve engineering throughput.
- Serve as a technical expert for a product area and devise elegant solutions to difficult engineering problems.
- Review technical designs for integration and alignment with business needs.
- Deliver internal demos explaining completed features and their broader context.
- Contribute to projects that delight users.
Requirements
- Experienced backend-focused software engineer who drives software delivery and operational excellence by translating business objectives into software systems.
- Deep experience architecting complex systems across multiple roles.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong experience with distributed systems.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with highly agile, iterative development processes.
- Experience mentoring engineers and helping them grow.

Compensation and Benefits
- Target base salary range in British Columbia: $216,000–$252,000 CAD.
- Salary does not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
