Leads and contributes to backend platform development for Chime’s Human Agent Tooling team, guiding 3–5 engineers while owning architecture, delivery, reliability, and technical growth. Responsibilities
- Lead a squad of 3–5 engineers, set the hiring bar, coach and develop talent, and own execution and delivery.
- Drive technical design and architectural decisions while mentoring engineers and fostering cross-functional collaboration.
- Lead and contribute to multiple projects, balancing ownership of key initiatives with broader team support.
- Build and maintain robust, low-latency APIs and backend services for Trust and Safety platforms.
- Serve as a domain expert in platform architecture and provide technical solutions for maturing platforms.
- Partner with data engineers, analysts, and product managers to ship features that improve member protection and experience.
- Improve platform reliability and performance through system architecture, observability, and automation.
- Evolve experimentation, policy lifecycle, and ML integration capabilities for decision-making at scale.
- Participate in an engineering on-call rotation, including incident response outside regular working hours when necessary.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience developing software in a production environment at scale.
- Experience serving as a technical lead for a team and complex projects, including architectural decisions, execution coordination, and cross-functional alignment.
- Proven experience with Ruby on Rails or comparable frameworks.
- Experience with transactional databases and caching systems.
- Deep understanding of architectural patterns for large-scale web applications.
- Commitment to mentoring engineers and fostering team development.
- Appreciation for maintainable and well-tested code.
- Curiosity and passion for system architectures and technical challenges.

Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $187,000–$259,000.
- Eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits.
