Engineering Manager

Leads and manages engineers building cloud-native public safety software, combining technical strategy, project delivery, architecture guidance, coaching, and people management. Requires substantial software engineering experience across frontend and backend services, distributed systems, and integrations.

Responsibilities

Set the long-term strategic direction for the engineering team and product suite.
Serve as a technical project manager by scheduling work, planning releases, managing the backlog, and removing roadblocks.
Coordinate with US and UK teams to align technology and business goals.
Mentor engineers through technical coaching, pairing, feedback, and delegation.
Manage engineers through regular one-on-ones, clear expectations, feedback, career development, and inclusive team-building.

Requirements

7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Significant experience designing and operating frontend and backend services, distributed systems, and system integrations.
Technical leadership experience on complex engineering projects, including architecture, design reviews, implementation strategy, and mentoring.
Experience providing technical direction, coaching, project leadership, and people management.
Track record of delivering projects and collaborating with Engineering, Product, Design, and Operations leaders.
Current knowledge of modern software languages, frameworks, and developer tools, including Java, TypeScript/JavaScript, React, SQL/MySQL, and cloud-native systems.

The role may require Non-Police Personnel Vetting security clearance up to level 3.

Nice to Have

Experience in public safety, government software, or regulated domains.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and cloud-native practices.
