European R&D Incentives Lead
Leads Stripe’s European R&D incentives strategy, documentation, expenditure analysis, and claims across Ireland and the UK while supporting US research-credit programs and global expansion. Responsibilities
- Act as Stripe’s European lead and technical expert for R&D incentive and grant claims.
- Support annual US federal and state research-credit studies, quarterly tax-return and FIN 48 estimates, and tax-audit requests related to US federal and state research credits.
- Own end-to-end technical documentation for European R&D incentives, including project identification, engineering interviews, evidence collection, technical reports, and audit-ready file retention.
- Analyze eligible R&D expenditure and prepare financial calculations supporting R&D incentives claims.
- Design and lead process improvements, including stronger controls, scalable and automated enhancements, and improved data and documentation quality.
- Assist with technical responses to tax-authority queries.
- Partner with Finance, Engineering, and cross-functional teams.
- Monitor relevant tax legislation, tax-authority guidance, claim practices, engineering growth, and new global R&D tax incentive and grant opportunities.
Requirements
- 6–8 years of relevant experience preparing or managing Irish R&D tax credit claims or global R&D incentive claims.
- Engineering or computer science qualification, or a technology-related background combined with finance qualifications or experience.
- Strong understanding of the Irish R&D tax credit regime, including qualifying activities, technical uncertainty, systematic investigation or experimentation, technical documentation, and eligible expenditure.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, technical report-writing ability, and engineering-interviewing skills.
- Strong project-management experience and ability to independently lead high-impact projects across multiple jurisdictions and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail, professional judgment, and confidence challenging unclear project descriptions or unsupported assumptions.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
- Willingness and ability to learn quickly.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with UK and US federal and state research credits.
- Experience supporting Irish Revenue R&D audits, tax-authority enquiries, or evidence reviews.
- Experience analyzing eligible R&D expenditure and preparing financial calculations for R&D tax-credit claims.
- Experience preparing IDA grant documentation in Ireland or supporting R&D tax credits and grants globally.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary range: €94,600–€141,800 in the primary location.
- Additional compensation and benefits may include equity, company bonus, retirement plans, health benefits, and wellness stipends.
