About the role

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations.
  • Maintain and improve month-end close processes, including monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Identify opportunities to use automation, AI-enabled tools, and process improvements to reduce manual work, improve accuracy, and accelerate month-end close.
  • Respond to information requests and assist with the annual financial statement audit.
  • Analyze financial statements and general ledger accounts to ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual fluctuations are expected and documented.
  • Prepare operational and ad hoc reporting for assigned financial statement areas.
  • Assist accounting leadership as needed.

First 90 Days

  • Take ownership of preparing assigned financial statement areas, potentially including revenue, cost of goods sold, inventory, administrative fees, and other areas.
  • Identify at least one opportunity to streamline an accounting process through automation, AI-enabled tools, or workflow improvements.
  • Establish strong cross-functional working relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • 3–4 years of experience, preferably combining public and private accounting.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Experience with one or more complex accounting areas, such as revenue recognition, inventory, stock-based compensation, debt/equity financing, business combinations, or investments.
  • Ability to read and analyze financial statements and reports.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and processes that are not formally defined.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Comfortable working in a fully remote setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using automation, AI tools, or advanced technology solutions to improve accounting processes, reporting, reconciliations, or close efficiency.
  • Public company exposure through audit or industry experience.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Compensation range: $70,500–$91,000.
