Manager II, Engineering - Observability Pipelines

Leads and scales the Observability Pipelines engineering organization, managing managers and shaping technical direction, operations, and roadmap strategy. Requires experience with distributed teams, distributed systems, high-throughput data infrastructure, and customer-installed software.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage the Observability Pipelines organization, including Engineering Managers across New York City and Paris.
  • Set technical direction and connect distributed teams.
  • Build management and technical leadership layers as the organization grows.
  • Partner with Product to co-own the roadmap and strategy.
  • Establish planning cadence, on-call and incident standards, and cross-team alignment.
  • Own cross-organizational relationships with SaaS Logs Pipelines, BYOC, and the Vector open-source community.
  • Coach managers and senior engineers and build succession and growth plans.

Requirements

  • Experience managing managers across distributed teams.
  • Track record of improving team operations and delivery.
  • Background in distributed systems and high-throughput data infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with on-premises or customer-installed software and its operational tradeoffs.
  • Ability to partner strategically with Product and shape the roadmap.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to connect engineering decisions to business outcomes.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with high-performance or Rust-based data pipeline systems.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary range of $252,000–$315,000.
