Principal Developer Advocate who will build trust with the AI engineering community through production-focused technical content, talks, and ecosystem relationships. Responsibilities

  • Represent Temporal at industry conferences, meetups, and workshops, delivering talks on reliability, state, and orchestration in agentic systems.
  • Create technical content for AI engineers and backend developers, including blogs, tutorials, guides, talks, and videos.
  • Build relationships with AI framework maintainers, open-source communities, and ecosystem partners.
  • Gather feedback from AI engineers and relay it to Product and Engineering to influence the roadmap and developer experience.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales on releases and go-to-market initiatives in AI.
  • Informally mentor peers and improve the team's AI engineering expertise.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, most recently focused on putting AI systems into production.
  • Track record of shipping AI products or features to production, including building, evaluating, deploying, and operating real systems.
  • Demonstrable visibility in the AI engineering community through content, open source, media, social platforms, or conference speaking.
  • Strong technical speaking and writing abilities.
  • Hands-on experience with production AI patterns, including LLMs, agents, retrieval-augmented generation, function calling, evaluation, observability, and inference.
  • Working knowledge of AI agent frameworks and major model-provider APIs.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
  • Curiosity and ability to keep up with rapidly evolving AI research and tooling.

Nice to Have

  • A strong public platform and recognizable online or conference presence.
  • Experience carrying the pager for production AI systems.
  • Experience building or contributing to AI agent frameworks or toolkits.
  • Familiarity with Temporal, especially building AI products or features with it.
  • Open-source contributions or stewardship in AI or distributed systems.
  • Previous Developer Relations or Developer Advocacy experience.

Compensation

  • Annual salary range: $182,400–$299,250.
