Revenue Accountant
Handles revenue accounting operations including monthly closes, journal entries, reconciliations, and technical accounting under ASC 606/340 for SaaS programs like sales compensation and MDF. Partners cross-functionally to drive process improvements and automation in a high-growth tech environment. Requires 4+ years experience.
Responsibilities
- Support the monthly and quarterly close processes, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, flux analysis, and financial reporting deliverables within areas of ownership
- Own accounting for outbound revenue programs, including emerging programs, Sales Compensation, Market Development Funds (MDF), ensuring accurate and timely recognition in accordance with accounting policies
- Evaluate and document technical accounting conclusions in accordance with ASC 606 and ASC 340 for new and evolving go-to-market initiatives
- Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Engineering, and Channel teams to understand program design, provide accounting guidance, and thoughtfully evaluate program structures to ensure appropriate accounting treatment
- Develop, document, and enhance revenue accounting processes and internal controls, including ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives, including evaluating and leveraging AI tools, in partnership with Systems and other teams to improve the efficiency and scalability of revenue accounting operations
- Support internal and external audits and contribute to ad hoc projects and business initiatives
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in revenue accounting, including experience in public accounting (Big 4 preferred) or a high-growth technology company
- Strong understanding and practical application of revenue recognition guidance (ASC 606 & ASC 340)
- Experience working with complex revenue arrangements, preferably in a SaaS or subscription-based business model
- Experience evaluating, documenting, and communicating technical accounting conclusions, including drafting accounting memos and policies in compliance with accounting standards
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements through automation and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and scalability
- Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to analyze large datasets, prepare journal entries, and perform ad hoc analyses
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment, including navigating ambiguity and evolving business processes
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner cross-functionally and explain accounting concepts to non-accounting stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or equivalent professional certification
- Familiarity with Oracle ERP systems
- Experience working with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms
- Strong understanding of ASC 606 in a SaaS or subscription-based business model, including ratable and usage-based revenue recognition
- Has worked cross functionally with a Go-to-Market organization
- Exposure to sales compensation, rebates, or Market Development Fund (MDF) accounting
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements or implement scalable accounting processes

US Zone 2: $108,300—$146,500 USD US Zone 3: $96,200—$130,200 USD
