Leads and grows Datadog’s Evaluation & Annotation engineering team, defining its technical roadmap and building systems for AI model evaluation, human annotation, synthetic data, storage, and data pipelines. The role combines people leadership with hands-on technical contribution.

Responsibilities
- Manage and grow the Evaluation & Annotation team, directly managing 4–6 engineers.
- Define the technical roadmap in alignment with AI platform goals and the Applied AI team roadmap.
- Work with core platform teams to tailor storage and data pipelines to team needs.
- Build a strong team culture aligned with engineering standards and customer focus.
- Participate in hands-on work, including code reviews, design reviews, and some coding.
Requirements
- Previous experience leading software engineering teams as a tech lead or people manager.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
- Interest in working on an early-stage project with significant technical challenges and a fast iteration cycle.
- Track record of delivering high-quality software on schedule and collaborating closely with product partners.
- Strong technical background combining backend, data engineering, and infrastructure experience.
- Interest in remaining a hands-on leader.
