Senior Software Engineer, Frontend – AI Platform

Responsibilities

• Design and implement complex, real-time UI features for conversational interfaces, including chat streaming, incremental rendering, and dynamic layouts.
• Build high-performance WebSocket pipelines for streamed deltas, retries, and backpressure.
• Optimize scrolling and rendering with requestAnimationFrame, virtualization, intersection observers, and non-blocking state updates.
• Implement fault-tolerant UI logic for reconnection, cancellation, offline recovery, and retries.
• Architect state-management and caching strategies that keep local UI state consistent with backend deltas.
• Collaborate with designers to deliver accessible, responsive, pixel-perfect interfaces across themes and viewport sizes.
• Improve the frontend developer experience through build-pipeline, testing, and linting/formatting enhancements.
• Instrument client-side telemetry and performance metrics for render latency, streaming lag, and interaction speed.
• Mentor teammates through design reviews and pair programming, contributing to shared components and cross-product standards.
• Collaborate with backend and AI/ML teams on message formats, token-streaming APIs, and session resiliency.
• Shape the technical direction of the AI Platform frontend and contribute to shared libraries and caching strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of professional frontend development experience in production environments.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript and asynchronous browser behavior.
• Experience with Svelte, React, or another modern component-based UI framework.
• Strong debugging and performance-profiling skills.
• Experience integrating real-time or streaming data into user interfaces.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to handle partial data, dropped connections, race conditions, and abort errors defensively.
• Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted developer tools or scripting build/test automation.

Technical Practices

• Browser rendering fundamentals: DOM, CSSOM, layout, paint, compositing, Chrome DevTools, animation scheduling, and modern Web APIs.
• Asynchronous and streaming systems: Promises, async/await, generators, AbortController, WebSockets, SSE, batching, throttling, debouncing, and backpressure.
• State and data synchronization: immutable data flows, diffs, patches, deltas, caching, reconciliation, and content hashing.
• UI architecture: reactive frameworks, stores/signals, side-effect isolation, lazy loading, error boundaries, design tokens, and cross-framework composition.
• Performance: first paint, input delay, FPS stability, Chrome Performance, Lighthouse, performance markers, and virtualized views.
• Design systems and accessibility: Storybook, Tailwind, Web Components, WCAG, ARIA, keyboard support, color contrast, screen readers, and Figma implementation.
• Resilience, testing, and observability: Playwright, Jest, Vitest, telemetry hooks, and production diagnostics.
• Developer experience and tooling: Vite, Webpack, linting, type checking, pre-commit automation, CI/CD, incremental testing, and feature flags.
