Product Manager, Developer Platform

Owns roadmap for developer platform products including REST APIs, SDKs, and MCPs. Drives developer experience, identifies gaps in agentic R&D workflows, and establishes feedback loops to prioritize builds for life sciences teams. Requires 3-5 years PM experience with technical fluency and developer empathy.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end roadmap for Benchling's developer-facing products: REST APIs, MCPs, SDKs, API playground, code examples, and code recipes.
  • Define primitives for agentic R&D workflows, get them built, and ensure developers can use them.
  • Work cross-functionally with Solutions Engineering, Partnerships, and Customer Success to build platform foundation for partner ecosystem (Quilt, Calira, Code Ocean, Seqera).
  • Own the developer experience end-to-end: docs, APIs, support.
  • Establish feedback loops through interviews, support signals, and usage data to shape roadmap decisions.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 3-5 years of product management experience, with hands-on ownership of API, SDK, or developer platform products.
  • Technical fluency: read code, review API specs, credible conversations with engineers.
  • Developer empathy: obsess over developer experience, AI-era tooling (MCPs, LLM-friendly APIs, agentic workflows).
  • Familiarity with modern developer stack: APIs, SDKs, documentation, developer onboarding.
  • Strong communicator: crisp requirements, clear presentations.

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with life sciences or enterprise SaaS domain.
  • Experience building developer communities, running beta programs, or developer relations.
  • Prior experience at a company with platform business model or marketplace.

How We Work

Flexible hybrid work arrangement, prioritizing in-office collaboration. Expected on-site 3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday).
