Responsibilities
Payments Strategy & Execution
- Own the end-to-end payments product roadmap across card-present and card-not-present environments, including hospitality use cases.
- Define how chip cards, contactless payments, digital wallets, ecommerce tokens, and white-label loyalty are presented and accepted.
- Translate complex payment flows into intuitive merchant and staff experiences, including refunds, tips, adjustments, partial authorizations, and offline or stand-in authorization.
- Monitor and improve authorization rates, chargebacks, declines, disputes, latency, and reconciliation accuracy through data-driven experimentation.
- Partner with risk, compliance, and security teams on network rules and PCI DSS requirements.
- Partner with go-to-market teams to package and position payment capabilities.
- Work with processors, acquirers, gateways, and other partners to evaluate capabilities, routing options, and cost optimization.
Money Movement & Remittance
- Partner with money movement and remittance teams to ensure timely settlement and accurate treatment of fees, adjustments, and chargebacks in merchant reporting.
- Connect payment decisions such as routing, interchange optimization, surcharging, and dual pricing to funding and remittance workflows.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Serve as the primary product contact for payments, aligning stakeholders around vision, roadmap, and success metrics.
- Facilitate decisions balancing technical constraints, regulatory considerations, and merchant needs.
- Communicate trade-offs, risks, dependencies, and progress to executives and senior leaders.
- Mentor and influence adjacent product teams on payment best practices and shared platform capabilities.
- Drive accountability, timely delivery, and learning from product launches.
Requirements
- 5+ years of product management experience, including at least 3 years focused on payments, fintech, or related financial services products.
- Demonstrated product leadership and ability to influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Deep understanding of card-present and card-not-present payments, including authorization, capture, clearing, settlement, tokenization, risk, and chargebacks.
- Familiarity with merchant processing economics, including interchange, scheme fees, settlement, and remittance.
- Experience working with payment processors, acquirers, gateways, or card networks, preferably in a platform or multi-tenant merchant environment.
- Strong analytical skills, including working with payment datasets, building dashboards, defining KPIs, and using data for prioritization and experimentation.
- Experience shipping complex technical products in partnership with engineering and operations teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with customer discovery, user interviews, and feedback sessions with merchants or similar B2B customers.
- Strong ownership, bias toward action, and ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $180,000–$225,000 per year.
