Supports semi-monthly payroll processing, employee benefits administration, compliance, recordkeeping, and employee inquiries for a hybrid New York City People team. Requires 1–2 years of payroll and benefits experience, ADP or comparable HRIS expertise, and strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
- Prepare semi-monthly payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees accurately and on time.
- Review and reconcile timesheets, PTO balances, and payroll data before each pay run.
- Process payroll adjustments, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, garnishments, and voluntary deductions.
- Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 distribution and reconciliation.
- Respond to employee questions about pay, deductions, and paycheck reconciliation.
Benefits Administration
- Administer health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), FSA/HSA, and wellness benefits.
- Coordinate open enrollment communications, informational sessions, and employee elections.
- Process enrollments, qualifying life event changes, and terminations with insurance carriers and benefits platforms.
- Reconcile monthly benefits invoices and coordinate with Finance on payroll deductions.
- Answer employee questions about coverage, eligibility, and claims.
Compliance and Recordkeeping
- Maintain accurate, confidential employee records in HRIS and payroll systems.
- Assist with ACA, COBRA, ERISA, and state/local compliance filings and reporting.
- Support payroll and benefits data audits.
- Monitor and track FMLA and leave-of-absence documentation with the HR team.
Cross-Functional Support
- Partner with HR Business Partners, Finance, and People Operations on projects and process improvements.
- Support new-hire onboarding through benefits orientations and timely enrollment.
- Generate standard and ad hoc payroll and benefits reports.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of experience in payroll processing and benefits administration.
- Hands-on experience with ADP or a comparable HRIS.
- Familiarity with employment laws, leave regulations, and benefits compliance.
- Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets and comfort with HR technology.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle confidential data professionally and discreetly.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary: $70,000–$83,000 annually.
