About the role
Key Responsibilities
Own the payroll cycle end to end for a portfolio of clients, including coordinating new hires, terminations, compensation changes, bonuses, commissions, reimbursements, deductions, implementations, provider transitions, data migration, parallel testing, reconciliation, and multi-state tax registrations and compliance.
Administer employee benefits and HR operations, including health, dental, vision, and 401(k) programs; broker and provider coordination; renewals; open enrollment; onboarding; offboarding; and employee changes across HRIS and payroll systems.
Serve as the client’s operational partner across payroll, benefits, and HR.
Translate client needs into accurate, scalable processes and communicate issues and next steps clearly.
Maintain documentation and improve workflows, controls, standardized processes, implementation playbooks, and the client experience.
Requirements
2–4+ years of experience in payroll administration, payroll operations, HR operations, benefits administration, or a related field.
End-to-end payroll processing experience.
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll taxes, including multi-state registrations, compliance, and employees across jurisdictions.
Experience implementing or supporting payroll and HRIS platforms such as Rippling, Gusto, ADP, Paychex, or similar systems.
Experience transitioning companies between payroll providers.
Benefits administration experience, including health insurance and 401(k) plans.
Experience managing onboarding, offboarding, deductions, employer contributions, and employee data across systems.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, research, prioritization, and independent judgment.
Clear communication skills and discretion when handling sensitive employee, payroll, and benefits data.
Compensation and Benefits
Base pay range: $65,600–$88,800 in Nashville.
