Principal, Strategic Institutional Capital

This commercial capital professional will develop institutional investor relationships and originate programmatic financing solutions across debt, preferred equity, tax equity, and structured products. The role requires 10+ years in capital markets or investing, renewable energy transaction expertise, and strong cross-functional execution skills.

Responsibilities

Strategic Capital Origination & Program Development

  • Build and maintain relationships with insurers, private credit funds, sovereign wealth funds, pensions, specialty credit funds, infrastructure investors, and energy investors.
  • Help execute institutional coverage strategy and advance strategic capital initiatives.
  • Translate institutional mandates, investment priorities, and capital needs into partnership opportunities.
  • Contribute to programmatic capital solutions, including debt joint ventures, corporate facilities, preferred equity programs, insurance capital solutions, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Refine investor buy-boxes and market strategies and expand relationships into recurring, multi-product capital programs.

Relationship Management & Coverage

  • Serve as a primary commercial contact for institutional engagements.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on market dynamics and investment opportunities.
  • Partner with Structuring, Legal, and Business Management to deliver integrated capital solutions.
  • Maintain relationship continuity from origination through execution and repeat deployment.

Cross-Platform Commercial Support

  • Support origination of opportunities spanning debt, tax equity, preferred equity, structured products, and future investment vehicles.
  • Support transaction execution and provide a seamless investor experience.
  • Structure and present investment opportunities in line with investor profiles.
  • Gather market feedback to inform product development and capital strategy.

Franchise Building

  • Represent the company through conferences, webinars, whitepapers, and direct institutional engagement.
  • Develop relationships across the institutional capital ecosystem.
  • Support growth of the Strategic Institutional Capital group.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Accounting, Business, or a related field; an MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in principal investing, investment banking, capital formation, private credit, infrastructure finance, asset management, structured finance, or related capital markets disciplines.
  • Strong relationships with equity and debt investors and experience advancing institutional relationships through execution.
  • Deep understanding of renewable energy transaction structures and market risks.
  • Experience with infrastructure and energy-transition investments and broader asset-allocation strategies.
  • Exposure to debt, preferred equity, tax equity, equity, structured products, corporate JVs, or other institutional capital solutions.
  • Ability to align deal structures with market standards and investor appetite and communicate opportunities and risks to diverse investors.
  • Experience developing institutional capital programs, strategic partnerships, or commercial initiatives in high-growth environments.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally on complex transactions involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of institutional investment processes, capital markets, and structured financing solutions.
  • FINRA SIE, Series 79, and Series 63 required, or willingness to obtain them under broker-dealer sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Existing relationships or familiarity with insurance companies, private credit funds, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, asset managers, or infrastructure investors.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Broker-Dealer and Registered Investment Adviser regulatory frameworks.
  • Interest in using technology, AI, and data to modernize institutional capital formation.
