Responsibilities
- Design and build the trigger system linking GitLab events—including code pushes, merge request and issue changes, CI/CD results, and deployments—and third-party events from Jira, Jenkins, and Slack to AI-powered Duo Flows.
- Contribute to the event platform infrastructure that supports GitLab's AI features.
- Architect for high availability and throughput while processing events at scale.
- Work within GitLab's Rails monolith and contribute to other platform services and languages as needed.
- Propose iterative solutions to complex technical problems across a multi-service environment and influence product and architecture direction.
- Collaborate with engineering teammates, product managers, and designers to shape trigger-system capabilities.
- Partner with other Duo Agent Platform teams to integrate triggers and events with the broader agent ecosystem.
- Participate in Tier 2 and Tier 3 on-call rotations, troubleshooting production, security, and urgent engineering issues.
Requirements
- Deep experience with Ruby and Rails, including working in a large established monolith and shipping production code.
- Experience building user-facing products that integrate large language models.
- Experience designing and operating large-scale systems with a focus on production high availability and throughput.
- Hands-on experience developing agentic systems and autonomous-action workflows.
- Ability to make progress in evolving problem spaces and learn new AI capabilities quickly.
- Strong written communication skills for asynchronous collaboration in a remote, globally distributed team.
