Engineering Manager - Global Football & Rugby
Leads two engineering squads building data infrastructure for global football and rugby analytics products. Responsibilities
- Lead with technical excellence by working closely with engineers on high-quality, scalable software, architecture, and system design.
- Drive product delivery in partnership with senior product managers and QA, understanding business value, negotiating trade-offs, and overseeing feature shipment.
- Manage approximately eight engineers across two squads, supporting their growth and wellbeing while building a high-performing, healthy team culture.
- Champion AI-first engineering and encourage the use of AI tools and modern technology.
- Build data infrastructure capabilities that enable other squads to move faster, measuring success through squad migrations and capabilities unlocked.
Requirements
- 3+ years of engineering management experience, ideally with an individual-contributor or technical-lead background on platform, API, or data-infrastructure teams.
- Deep experience designing and evolving APIs for multiple internal or external customers.
- Strong technical background and experience architecting complex software using C#, TypeScript, AWS, PostgreSQL, and GraphQL.
- Familiarity with data-lake patterns.
- Ability to build trust with engineers through technical knowledge and guide complex system designs.
- Enthusiasm for AI-augmented engineering and building for AI-native consumers.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with additional languages or tools beyond the core stack.
- Interest in football analytics and products serving elite clubs.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range: £76,000–£127,000 GBP.
