Responsibilities
- Own Harvey’s web platform architecture end to end, including the Next.js/Vercel application, Sanity content layer, and supporting services and APIs.
- Design data foundations and integration patterns connecting the website with marketing, analytics, CRM, and go-to-market systems for real-time and batch workloads.
- Establish automation, CI/CD, preview and deployment tooling, and automated testing.
- Set observability standards covering structured logging, tracing, Core Web Vitals, performance budgets, and alerting.
- Lead the application of AI and ML to content operations, personalization, and internal web tooling.
- Partner with Security and Infrastructure to harden the platform while preserving developer experience.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship through code reviews, design reviews, and architectural guidance.
Requirements
- 8+ years of web development experience with deep backend and systems expertise.
- Experience owning technical architecture at staff-level scope and ambiguity.
- Strong command of React/Next.js, TypeScript, and server-side rendering.
- Backend experience with Node, Python, or comparable technologies.
- Experience architecting and operating headless CMS and content platforms at scale, including schema design and publishing workflows.
- Experience building and operating reliable production systems, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability, and performance optimization against real-user metrics.
- Fluency with SQL and NoSQL databases, caching, queuing, APIs, webhooks, and integration patterns.
- Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into production web experiences or content workflows.
- Ability to mentor engineers, influence across functions, and work autonomously on a small team.
Nice to Have
- Vercel platform experience.
- Marketing and GTM systems integration, including HubSpot, Salesforce, Segment, or analytics platforms.
- SEO and web performance engineering experience.
- Experience as the first or most senior engineer on a web platform team.
Compensation
- $146,600–$201,500 USD, depending on location.
