Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable Apex solutions on the Salesforce platform for Sales and CX teams.
  • Use AI coding assistants such as Claude Code throughout development to write, review, debug, and document code.
  • Oversee improvements to deployed features and measure their impact.
  • Apply Salesforce architecture and change/release management best practices, using the Salesforce CLI (sf) for deployments.
  • Write maintainable, well-documented code.
  • Build, test, and debug reliable production systems at scale, including real-time, event-driven, or high-throughput systems.
  • Contribute to codebases beyond Salesforce when needed.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 4+ years developing on Salesforce with Apex.
  • Salesforce Platform Developer I and/or Application Architect certification.
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce platform architecture, Salesforce CLI, and change/release management.
  • Daily fluency with AI coding assistants across the development lifecycle, with sound judgment about their use.
  • Experience writing structured, maintainable, and documented code, including outside Salesforce.
  • Proven ability to build, test, and debug reliable production systems at scale.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous requirements into business value and advocate for scalable technical solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ruby on Rails experience.
  • Experience in regulated industries.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Cash compensation: $163,000–$204,000 in Denver and most remote locations; $197,000–$247,000 in San Francisco and New York.
  • Stock equity is additional.
  • Full-time employees receive benefits and equity (RSUs).
  • Employees based in Denver, San Francisco, and New York work from the office approximately 2–3 days per week or more depending on the role.
  • Two days of travel to a Gusto office are required for onboarding.
