Responsibilities
- Design, build, maintain, and ship services and features that enable companies to offer and manage 401(k) plans.
- Extend and modify existing system architecture to support new capabilities.
- Identify, codify, and evangelize engineering best practices.
- Partner with product, design, and operations to scope work and deliver production-ready solutions.
- Debug production issues and improve reliability, observability, and operational tooling.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate shared systems and platforms.
- Write clear, reliable, well-tested code that ships quickly and scales well.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience building and shipping production products or platforms.
- Experience building services and APIs.
- Experience with message-based systems such as Sidekiq, Amazon SQS, or NServiceBus.
- Experience with GraphQL.
- Experience with large modern frontend applications such as React.
- Ability to own systems end-to-end, including production support and operational work.
- Experience partnering with product managers and cross-functional teams.
- Experience with Ruby on Rails or a comparable backend framework.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and cross-team influence skills.
Compensation and Benefits
- Cash compensation target: $163,000–$204,000 in Denver and most remote locations; $197,000–$247,000 in San Francisco and New York.
- Stock equity is additional.
- Full-time employees receive competitive base pay, benefits, and equity (RSUs).
