About the role

What You Will Do

  • Lead the design and development of features spanning the entire stack, from React-based frontend applications to backend services, APIs, and data layers.
  • Work closely with Product, UX, and Engineering teams to understand user needs, make sound technical decisions, and deliver high-quality software.
  • Own features end-to-end, building intuitive frontend experiences as well as backend services, databases, and distributed systems.
  • Mentor and guide other engineers, raising the quality bar through code review, pairing, and technical leadership.
  • Bring fresh technologies and approaches to the team, including thoughtful use of AI to accelerate development outcomes.

  • Depth in backend technologies such as JVM languages (Kotlin, Java, Scala), Python, GraphQL, databases, distributed systems, and cloud platforms.
  • Strong ownership, agency, and impact beyond individual contributions; drive improvements and maintain open communication on growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
  • Substantial professional experience: 6+ years for Staff, 10+ years for Principal, with record of designing, building, and evolving complex software systems.
  • Strong understanding of software design principles, patterns, and best practices.
  • Expertise in one or more backend JVM languages (Java, Kotlin, or Scala).
  • Experience working with databases such as Postgres.
  • Expertise in building large frontend applications with React or TypeScript (preferred).
  • Ability to work effectively across frontend and backend codebases, owning features end-to-end.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proven leadership skills to guide and mentor junior engineers.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional team.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban).
