Design Engineer
Design and build polished product experiences by combining strong visual and UX design with frontend engineering. The role requires at least two years of continuous experience, proficiency in both disciplines, and a track record of shipping user-facing products and iterating from feedback.

Responsibilities
- Design and code product experiences, combining visual design, UX, and frontend engineering.
- Work on challenging design problems across Ashby’s recruiting product.
- Expand and enhance the in-house design system and create flexible, composable components.
- Consult with Product Engineers on bespoke design work, information hierarchy, and scannability.
- Conduct customer conversations, create wireframes, implement design systems, and ship polished user interfaces.
- Iterate quickly by shipping to subsets of users and gathering feedback.
- Handle customer issues and investigations as part of the engineering team.
Requirements
- 2+ years of continuous industry experience as an engineer or designer; internships do not count.
- Proficiency in both design and engineering, with exceptional proficiency in the discipline practiced full-time.
- Experience designing products and shipping code to hundreds of users, including through side projects.
- Excellent visual design taste and execution.
- Ability to work with minimal process, own decisions, collaborate deliberately, and communicate effectively.
- Comfort shipping quickly and iterating based on user feedback and business needs.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience contributing to a design system.
- Experience designing and implementing features for hundreds of users and iterating through user feedback.
Compensation
- Salary range: 60,000–145,000.
