Installation Specialist

Installs and supports restaurant point-of-sale hardware through virtual assessments, onsite deployments, troubleshooting, and staff training. Requires 2–3 years of restaurant or technical support experience, strong networking knowledge, bilingual English/Spanish proficiency, and significant travel availability.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive virtual and onsite site surveys for restaurant POS installations.
  • Validate wiring, electrical infrastructure, networking, and internet performance.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics, including traceroutes and port checks, and document infrastructure risks.
  • Provide technical guidance to clients and vendors and lead remediation follow-ups.
  • Install and configure POS hardware, including workstations, printers, pin pads, cash drawers, switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Complete cabling, patching, and connectivity setup.
  • Deliver onsite training and live support for restaurant staff and management.
  • Implement menu and system updates and configure reporting.
  • Perform pre- and post-installation readiness checks and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Technicians, and Engineering to ensure installation success.
  • Mentor junior specialists and contribute to improvements in survey tools, templates, processes, and SOPs.
  • Maintain detailed installation records, including photos, diagrams, and survey outcomes.
  • Travel to client sites, including local and out-of-state travel with overnight stays as needed.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of restaurant and/or technical support experience.
  • Demonstrated success in 50+ POS installations or comparable technical deployments.
  • Strong knowledge of networking infrastructure, low-voltage cabling, routers, switches, and Wi-Fi optimization.
  • Experience with network testing, including speed, latency, and DNS diagnostics.
  • Hands-on experience with restaurant POS systems and multi-terminal deployments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
  • Experience conducting client-facing walkthroughs, training staff, and explaining technical information clearly.
  • Familiarity with restaurant operations, POS hardware and software, menus, modifiers, and reporting workflows.
  • Ability to manage complex, multi-site projects independently and mentor junior team members.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, CRM platforms, ticketing systems, and travel and expense management tools.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Fluent written and verbal English required.
  • Fluent Spanish required.
  • Ability to travel up to 50–75%.
  • Work authorization in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is unavailable.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Networking, Systems Administration, Engineering Technology, Business Administration, or Hospitality Management with strong technical acumen.
  • Experience in fintech or SaaS environments.
  • Background in IT support, implementation, or technical project leadership within restaurant, retail, or multi-location businesses.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $22.00–$27.00 per hour.
