Installation Specialist

Installs and supports restaurant POS hardware and infrastructure through site surveys, technical troubleshooting, staff training, and onsite deployment. Requires 2–3 years of restaurant or technical support experience, networking expertise, bilingual English/Spanish proficiency, and substantial travel.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive virtual and onsite site surveys for restaurant POS installations.
  • Assess wiring, electrical infrastructure, networking, Wi-Fi, and internet performance.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics, including traceroutes, port checks, speed, latency, and DNS testing.
  • Install and configure POS hardware, including workstations, printers, pin pads, cash drawers, switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Complete cabling, patching, connectivity setup, menu and system updates, and reporting configuration.
  • Deliver onsite training and live support to restaurant staff and management.
  • Troubleshoot escalated infrastructure and installation issues and provide technical guidance to clients and vendors.
  • Collaborate with project managers, technicians, and engineering teams to ensure installation success.
  • Maintain installation records, photos, diagrams, survey outcomes, and system documentation.
  • Mentor junior specialists and recommend improvements to survey tools, templates, standard operating procedures, and internal processes.
  • Travel regularly to client sites, including local and out-of-state travel with overnight stays as needed.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of restaurant and/or technical support experience.
  • Demonstrated success with 50 or more POS installations or comparable technical deployments.
  • Hands-on experience with restaurant POS systems, multi-terminal deployments, and technology installations in QSR, full-service, franchise, retail, or multi-location environments.
  • Strong knowledge of networking infrastructure, including low-voltage cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and Wi-Fi optimization.
  • Experience with advanced network testing and troubleshooting escalated technical issues.
  • Ability to manage complex, multi-site projects independently and mentor junior team members.
  • Experience leading client walkthroughs, training staff, and communicating technical information clearly in person or via Zoom.
  • Familiarity with restaurant operations, POS hardware and software, menus, modifiers, and reporting workflows.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, CRM platforms, ticketing systems, and travel and expense management tools.
  • Fluent written and verbal English and bilingual Spanish proficiency.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to travel 50–75%, including overnight stays when needed.

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Networking, Systems Administration, Engineering Technology, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in fintech or SaaS environments.
  • Background in customer-facing roles, IT support, implementation, or technical project leadership.
