Forward-Deployed Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own customer deployments from kickoff to successful rollout: learn workflows, configure Prox, test use cases, train users, monitor adoption.
• Help roll out Prox across distributed networks (dealerships, support/sales teams, field reps): determine needs for tablets, desktops, dashboards, websites, connectors.
• Build tests and evals to determine deployment readiness (accuracy on common questions, compatibility, citations, escalation, trust for technicians/sales reps).
• Define and track rollout metrics: adoption, repeat usage, answer quality, escalation rates, quote completion, support deflection, latency, failed sessions.
• Turn customer pain into product improvements: write specs, reproduce issues (bad retrieval, unstable integrations, poor UX), work with founding engineers to ship fixes.
• Travel on-site to customers: sit with users, run trainings, debug workflows in person, build trust.

Requirements

• Strong engineer who can build, debug, ship, and reason about systems without a perfect spec.
• Customer-facing skills: communicate effectively with VPs, dealer principals, support reps, technicians.
• Operationally intense: manage complex rollouts, resolve all loose ends.
• Good product taste: distinguish "technically works" from "real user would trust this".
• Comfortable with meaningful customer travel; enjoy field work.
• High agency: unblock rollouts by finding customers, logs, engineers, workflows, queries.
• Clear writer: turn feedback into Linear issues, specs, rollout notes, postmortems.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with grounded AI systems, product reasoning, messy customer-facing workflows.
• Background in technical support, product sales tools, or manufacturing/dealership environments.
