Software Engineer, Price Experience

Builds and owns provider- and pet parent-facing pricing features across the web stack, with emphasis on backend engineering, production observability, testing, and AI-augmented development. Requires 3+ years of professional software development experience and comfort with Python/Django or another major backend language.

Responsibilities

  • Turn ambiguous requirements into plans and drive work forward with appropriate support.
  • Own projects end-to-end, from understanding the request through deployment and production monitoring.
  • Build provider- and pet parent-facing features that make pricing clear, fair, and actionable.
  • Diagnose issues across the team's technical domain.
  • Apply monitoring practices to identify and respond to production issues.
  • Contribute to code quality through reviews, architectural discussions, and clear, well-tested code.
  • Communicate status, blockers, and priorities proactively.
  • Document work and maintain accurate team documentation.
  • Participate in and improve established team processes.
  • Use AI tools effectively for coding, debugging, refactoring, code review, and exploring unfamiliar codebases.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Backend engineering experience, ideally with Python and Django; experience with Java, Go, C#, or Kotlin is also welcome.
  • Working knowledge of web application development, ideally with React or a similar modern frontend framework.
  • Familiarity with relational databases and basic schema design.
  • Experience or growing comfort with structured logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
  • Strong automated testing practices, including unit and integration tests.
  • Experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code or Copilot, with the ability to validate generated output critically.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with distributed-systems patterns, including Celery, RabbitMQ, Memcached, Redis, and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience designing REST APIs at scale, using Django REST Framework or an equivalent.
  • Exposure to continuous deployment pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Experience building custom AI-assisted development workflows and automating repetitive tasks.

  • Greater Seattle area first-year salary range: $108,694–$136,046.
