Tech Lead Manager - Lakebase

Responsibilities
- Lead a small team of 5–6 engineers, owning execution and on-time, high-quality delivery.
- Stay hands-on by driving architecture and design and writing code for the hardest parts of projects.
- Set and uphold high technical standards through architecture reviews, testing, and a culture of engineering excellence.
- Grow engineers through clear feedback and career development.
- Align with partner teams on dependencies and unblock cross-cutting projects across the Lakebase stack.
- Partner with engineering and product leadership to shape and deliver a long-term roadmap.
Potential Team Areas
- Lakebase Platform Reliability: Build cross-functional infrastructure, observability, SLI/SLO measurement, operational-efficiency systems, and AI-powered automation for internal and customer-facing systems.
- Lakebase Proxy: Build the network edge handling customer connections and query traffic across Postgres, HTTP, WebSockets, and the Data API, including load balancing, authentication, data access, performance, observability, and reliability.
- Lakebase Storage: Develop and roll out storage services hosting millions of customer databases across regions, using storage technology, distributed systems, and Rust while leading operational excellence for 24/7 systems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of engineering experience, including time as a tech lead or senior engineer driving projects end-to-end.
- Strong hands-on technical depth, including system design, coding, and architecture for large-scale distributed services.
- Experience with large-scale distributed services and testing, monitoring, and SLA processes.
- People-management or tech-lead experience, with readiness to take on direct reports.
- Ability to align multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.
- Ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term stability.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
