The Senior Product Accounting Manager translates complex accounting standards into software requirements, scenarios, and tests while researching guidance and validating product behavior. Responsibilities
- Translate US GAAP, IFRS, GASB, and applicable international accounting frameworks into software requirements, example scenarios, and test cases.
- Research ambiguous accounting questions, make documented technical conclusions, and monitor emerging guidance from FASB, IASB, FRC, GASB, and accounting firms.
- Develop accounting scenarios, edge-case documentation, and requirements for new products.
- Use large language models to accelerate research and documentation while evaluating and governing AI-generated accounting content.
- Join prospect and customer calls to explain complex accounting scenarios and relay feedback to Product.
- Write customer bulletins, brief leadership, and explain accounting concepts to non-accounting audiences.
- Validate accounting features end-to-end and drive anomalies through resolution.
- Mentor junior team members and lead cross-functional working groups without direct authority.
- Manage multiple concurrent research and project workstreams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Active CPA license.
- Four to six years of progressive experience in Big Four audit/assurance or senior corporate accounting.
- Deep knowledge of corporate debt structures and accounting treatments, particularly for private-equity-backed companies.
- Deep knowledge of US GAAP and the ability to explain standards clearly to non-accounting audiences.
- Ability to independently research technical accounting guidance and produce documented conclusions.
- Proficiency with AI tools and large language models, including prompt writing and critical evaluation of outputs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills across technical, executive, and customer-facing audiences.
- Extensive experience in technical accounting research, documentation, and standard application.
Nice to Have
- Advanced degree.
- Working knowledge of IFRS and international accounting frameworks.
- GASB experience.
