Responsibilities
- Architect, design, develop, and maintain internet-scale distributed systems and scalable services for the HRIS platform.
- Participate actively in coding and code reviews using Python, Golang, and Java.
- Provide technical leadership, establish engineering best practices, and guide adoption of advanced technologies.
- Mentor engineers and foster continuous learning, collaboration, and technical excellence.
- Design systems capable of handling millions of concurrent users with high performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Build modular abstraction APIs, programmatic APIs, and Backend for Frontend (BFF) systems.
- Design analytical and transactional storage systems capable of handling petabyte-scale workloads.
- Develop highly available and reliable systems targeting 99.99% or 99.999% uptime.
- Implement monitoring, logging, tracing, and other observability practices.
- Build and integrate streaming and workflow systems for transactional and analytical workflows.
- Collaborate with product management, data science, and operations teams.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement.
- Maintain documentation and standards for architecture, design, and operational processes.
Requirements
- 9+ years of software engineering experience, with significant experience building large-scale distributed systems and scalable services.
- Proficiency in Python, Golang, and Java.
- Deep understanding of distributed computing, data architecture, and scalable system design.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and experience mentoring and developing engineers.
- Experience building systems handling millions of users in parallel.
- Strong understanding of SLAs, resiliency, and observability.
- Expertise designing modular abstraction APIs, programmatic APIs, and BFF systems.
- Experience with analytical storage systems such as Presto, S3, and Snowflake.
- Experience with transactional storage systems such as MySQL, Aurora, and MongoDB.
- Experience with public cloud platforms and streaming technologies.
- Understanding of transactional and analytical workflow systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience integrating AI-assisted workflows such as Claude and Cursor into software development.
- Ability to navigate large, complex codebases and independently solve ambiguous or evolving requirements.
